One Response to “Service”

    High Pastor Dave,

    Subject: The “WHITE STONE.”

Your sermon the other day, got me to thinking of what the WHITE STONE may have meant.

The Knights Templer, grew out of the early Church. The king of France tried to eradicate them. As a result, they went underground and are thought to be the start of the Masonic Lodge.

My dad was a Mason and got me started in their ritual. I later got married, adopted my kids and moved with the military. As a result, I did not keep up my membership. That is a brief background of where my information and assumptions are coming from.

The early Masons used stones to vote on a new member. Each member would put a WHITE STONE in a bucket or bag for YES or a BLACK STONE for NO. If just one member put a BLACK STONE in the bucket, the new person was not allowed to be a member. BLACK and WHITE marbles later replaced the stones. This resulted in the term if some one was voted down that they were “BLACK BALLED”.

My thought is that this ritual might have started in the early church.

    Sincerely,

    Ted Grein
